We run these free clinics in order to give parents an understanding of why and how physical preparation is critical for not only your child’s performance, but their growth and development. Through this clinic we will demonstrate how we prepare our junior athletes who are a part of our junior development program.
If your child and/or you as a parent have aspirations for your child to play sport at a sub-elite or elite level they NEED some sort of structured strength and conditioning program in order to maximize their physical capabilities in order to PERFORM at a higher level than their competitors. Secondly, the rate of musculoskeletal injuries in Australian children is much higher than it should be. Our main goal with every individual that works through our gym is to help prevent the preventable injuries. Some injuries are unavoidable yes, but through a periodized program that is tailored towards your athlete, our job is to make sure they learn how to move their body and develop the qualities of speed, strength, power and mobility, to make their body more robust and resilient.
Even if sport is not a priority of your child, physical activity in the form of weight bearing activities can help lengthen bone size and increase bone width. Children who participate in weight-bearing physical activities have been shown to have between 4-30% higher peak bone mass. This is key to reducing their chances of bone injuries like fractures and even mitigating the effects and onset of degenerative bone diseases later in life like osteoarthritis.
